"Much higher up the course of the glacier there is evidence of a volcano that erupted through the ice about 2,000 years ago and the whole region could be volcanically active, releasing geothermal heat to melt the base of the ice and help its slide towards the sea."

Geothermal activity under the ice....I doubt it!
It's all those melting polar bears.
Lol, if Al Gore is right about this whole thing. I am so going to laugh my ass off at all the Anti-Global Warming people. My first job would be creating mass Bumper Stickers labeling "Fucking over Humanity, one skepticism story at a time".
If Al Gore's wrong, worst that would happen is I can create a Bumper Sticker labeling I am a idiot and give it to myself and the majority of Global Warming believers and atleast the world wouldn't be fucking over.
Though there are many plus sides to the Global Warming theory. You see that new lawn mower that's wireless and doesn't run on gas? It runs very smooth, ALWAYS starts, never has any problems. Much better then gas powered ones.

Its been around for a century ...I use one and I still say Gore is a fat idiot

So where did the energy come from to power the mower?

They run on these medium sized battery things, you just slip them in and they are ready to go. I believe there rechargable as well.

Yes but the batteries do not charge themselves.
Electricity needs to be generated. No such thing as free energy.
Do not some types of power stations add pollutants into the atmosphere.
Ok? This has to do with what exactly? Electricity is more earth friendly then gas is, and it's a lot easier to deal with. Its cordless, and IMO sticking in a battery in the lawn mower takes 1-2 second without any problems. Re-fill a mower with gas doesn't take 1-2 seconds, and you always have problems with it.
Also I don't think power stations add pollutants? Unless the staff that works there eats a lot of beans and farts constantly. Regardless however if it does add pollutants (Not saying it does). Wouldn't it add less pollutants then gas?

Electricity is more earth friendly? most of it is coal powered so you should check that out!
"Bacardi4206" said Coal Powered? Hmm, never heard of that. Where did you find that out?
from wikipedia
With the world-wide total of active coal plants over 50,000 and rising, the IEA estimates that fossil fuels will still account for 85% of the energy market by 2030
