The fossil remains of a flipper-free mammal related to modern seals have been discovered in Nunavut by Ottawa researchers who stumbled upon them after their ATV ran out of gas.
Thats a pretty good find as fossills are very rare up there as it's not sedimentary rock.
She pulled one boner not taking enough gas but at least she packed her rifle.
Running out of gas was just one of the many challenges she faced, along with more dramatic difficulties such gusts of wind so strong they carried away her tent and all her gear.
When the ATV ran out of fuel, Liz Ross, a summer student on the expedition, was left with the vehicle about a kilometre from camp.
"I was a little upset with myself for not checking the gas level so I was kind of scuffing my toes in the dirt and as I looked down, there was a black piece of bone,"
Isnt it just simply amazing the staggering number of fossils records that show transpeciation is true. ITS JUST AMAZING - just think, you sheople can trace your ancestry back to a rock if you go far enough
"ShepherdsDog" said holy buffalo crap...school's out is it? Walking with mammals is an interesting series, beginning at the Eocene and tracing nature's experiments.
"Walking with Beasts"?
I found the BBC site and noticed an evolution game - it doesn't work but this is the description: "The world is changing. You'll have to adapt if you want to survive. Play the evolution game and see if you can last until the present day."
Evolution is not about organisms making some sort of effort to adapt to their environment, it's about traits that the animal has making it more likely that it reproduces.
With poor attempts like that (and others like Spore) to incorporate evolution into a game format, it's no wonder people like diddlejack are often confused about what evolution really is.
I used to play some similar years ago. You had to terraform a planet using meteorite impacts, CO2 and Nitrogen generators then seed it with algae. And yes, the proper title is Walking with Beasts.
Not your average seal, that's for sure!
Stumbled upon them after there ATV ran out of gas eh. Talk about lucky.
I wonder if the Gas they just used up came from that particular Fossil? Would be creepy.
