OTTAWANDP Leader Jack Layton says the best hope of having organized labour rights recognized in Mexico is for President Felipe Caldern to be swept from power.
Mexico, unlike Canada, needs a lot of chages in a lot of things.
The labour laws I imagine do need to be chaged especially in dangerous industries.
The corruption in Mexico seems to be the normal way of life. I think the Mexican Army is probably one of the few uncorrupted areas.
They do attempt a hurculean job of trying to keep a lid on drug vioence which is so institutionalized that they are almost fighting a war, and they do their level best,
THIS is the border where we need the predaor drones and they should be armed and any violence that spills into the US can be delt with superior firepower.
The Mexicans argure that it is the American demand for drugs that attracts these drug lords and their violence and they are entirely correct on that point.
Even more than hardening that border we need to reduce the damand for illegal drugs and dry up their business.
Labour laws in Mexico are the Mexicans' concern, not ours. If we disagree with them, then it's up to individual Canadian consumers to refuse to purchase Mexican goods. It's not for our government/politicians to speak for either Mexican lawmakers or Canadian consumers.

I think he should run for office in Mexico...
I second the motion
