Hard-line Iranian students stormed the British diplomatic compounds in Tehran on Tuesday, bringing down the Union Jack flag and throwing documents from windows.
The police just stood there doing nothing. Only an idiot would believe that this wasn't orchestrated by the Iranian government. Time to boot the Iranians out of the UK...only thing is, make them swim to France.

Funny, because this is the same way that the US Embassy in Tehran went down in the 80's. Even the same mention of missing staff, then nothing and a couple months later the Canadian Embassy managed to smuggle them out safely.

Exactly. The Vienna Convention clearly states that it is the host's responsibility to protect foreign consular premises. The Iranian government needs to step it up and do its goddamn duty as a member of the civilized world.

I'm not sure that throwing an extra helping of shit on the fan is the best course of action, but the Iranians need to live up to their international obligations or face the consequences.
The British FO is playing this down and they were initially denying that hostages had been taken and then they are now saying that the six people are 'accounted for'.
Shit like this will just cause NATO, should it go to war, to not care about civilian casualties. The same restraint shown in Afghanistan won't be present, it will be a return to the pre-70s style war. And nothing in that country will be over 3 feet tall once finished.
I wish that were the case, but I don't think the current crop of British leadership has the intestinal fortitude to do much about this. What they don't see is that inaction in this matter will directly encourage Argentina to invade the Falklands again. Because if Britain isn't willing to fight then Argentina certainly will be.

Whatever gave you the impression that Iran was a member of the civilized world? They are a mickey mouse third world Islamic Republic. They are one of the world's most notable "problem children", that dirty little secret the family wants to keep in the basement and not tell anyone about. The annoying kid in school you want to punch in the face, but can't because he's "special" and lights fires 'n shit.
They've already shown to the world about much respect they have for the Vienna Convention, I'm surprised anyone would staff an embassy in Tehran.

But you are speaking of the 'Government', not the people. Just as the CPC does not represent all Canadians, nor the 'Tea Party' all Americans, the Mullas that infest Iraninan government are not 'the people'. Student riots last year seem to indicate the Iranian people don't much like them either, and some are willing to die for change.
As an aside - notice the thinkspeak that countries we like have 'Governments' but ones we don't have 'regimes'.

Sadly, they may to die for change. I don't see the Mullah's surrendering their rule to peaceful protesters in the town square.

"Regime" is typically used to refer to the government of a country without true democratic elections. Typically such regimes are led by "strongmen", Saddam Hussein, Castro, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il, Mao, Stalin, Suharto, etc.
People who use terms like "Bush regime" or "Harper regime" to describe the elected (in free and fair elections) government are simply frothing at the mouth with hyperbole.

End all sanctions.
Remove any and all trade barriers.
Flood them with kindness and western ideology...
Seriously. Has a better chance of working long term than military actions.

Don't forget the Israeli's, they would like to wipe THEM off the map.
