Students at North Dundas High School in Winchester, Ont., suspected of drinking will have to take a breathalyzer test before entering prom because of the school board's zero-tolerance policy on alcohol consumption.

No, this is a case of shedding liability. They know kids always drink but can't stop them. So when one of them wraps his car around a pole later that night, they can wipe their hands of it.
Yeah, we had two "grad" events, one for the kids who wanted to get smashed and one for the kids who wanted to play chess
I didn't go to either, but I did go to a tradition our school had called the "Grad Sleepover" where the new Grade 12 kids would have an all-nighter outside party on the night before the first day of school, with the intention of going to school drunk. This was disbanded entirely by force the year my grade tried it, with all obviously drunk/hungover kids sent home and suspended. We were an ugly group of kids that day.
It was fun but yeah, definitely not something the school could endorse or condone with a straight face. I was brought to the school in the trunk of a car, i didn't get suspended because I forgot my locker combination and just walked home instead.

We survived, didn't we?
But then again, at my school, we had an 'after grad' party where drinking was encouraged and supervised. Only by the grace of god. My younger brother had a friend who became a grad statistic though.
It seems there will be no way to drink your date pretty.
So this is the birth control that REALLY works !

Don't ever play with ropes, kids. Ropes are dangerous. Now here's $50. Go buy some fireworks and a ballistic knife.
