Forum: US Politics   Topic: Washington Initiative 502: legalize marijuana

I think there are still too many people in the US afraid of the legalization of Marijauna. Maybe in the next generation there will be politicians willing to promote the bills necessary for this evolution.

I take it that this is not quite like an American state wanting to secede from our union. Does Quebec currently have some amount of autonomy (separate laws, regulations, agencies, etc.)? How in the world would a single province survive as a separate soverign nation without the direct support of Cana...

Thanks for that info, Bart. That settles it for me. I'll never buy an off-the-shelf computer (PC or laptop) again (Dell or store). Too many good computer shops that will spec build one to my needs with good ole' XP + special goodies.

I agree with you about Twitter but Facebook is a great means to get in touch with old friends that you've lost track of.

Ditto. I'm not a twit.

Perhaps you haven't been looking closely at the economic conditions and trends in the US over the last four years. Obama needs to be shown the door - right now, before he can do any more damage. But, more importantly than the occupant of the White House, conservatives need to take back control of th...

Theoretically - society watches them, and takes action via their representatives and their votes. That even works, sometimes.

What ? It's stupid to interact with other races or ethicities ? Come on, it's one of the best ways to learn things about other perspectives.

If my comment about that "segment" of Black society is wrong or defective - please do explain how. Otheriwse, peeve away all you like.

well again, if a case collapses due to cops' lying on the stand, and there are no consequences, IA isn't doing their job. I harbor the suspicion that among cops there's a degree of being OK with lying if you know the scumbag is guilty. And I harbor a suspicion that on this forum there would be a lo...

Also agreed. Well mannered Black people won't call each other these things and are embarrassed and irritated by those who do. I worked with a few Black officers that tried to do this, thinking they'd come off as "street" or "cool". In short order it was made clear to them, regard...

Don't the major Canadian police agencies have Internal Affairs units, or some call them Professional Standards agencies ? I have to suspect they do and the real responsibility for internal discipline at that level would rest with them - with referrals to criminal prosecution when appropriate. I work...

Context. When a black person uses "nigger" with another black person, that's acceptable. A white person can't do the same. It's just common sense, because whites used the term too often as a perjorative, and it comes off as an insult. Agreed. But it does seem hypocritical for them to thro...

Sounds like both the above descriptions could be legitimate. I'm going to submit this for general approval: TROLL (internet): Someone who intentionally posts statements, comments or responses designed solely to belittle, insult or incite anger, disgust or diversion from the thread subject. I think the idea of an internet "troll" hasn't quite made it into most dictionaries yet. Anyway - I'm not responsible for Thiizic's comments, pro or con. I might be a troll, I guess. . . I might be the King of Denmark, too, but you never know who's on the wild, wonderful web. I also knew y...
