SprCForr pretty much nailed it. I joined as an NCO and have had an amazing career. Then again my goal was to see the world and I did. If you are joining for a specific reason figure out what path will best help you achieve your goal. Officers have difficulties too. Their world isn't all roses. |

Tattoo, why is it you don't support something that encourages a huge amount of economic spin-off? Do you not realize the amout of money that will be injected directly into the BC coffers? Maybe you would rather sit around on you rear and collect welfare. Get a job... |

For the air defence component there will be a 280 class Destroyer. Her SM2 system is capable of engaging any air threat out to 90 Knots. Deploying Frigates is possible but likely just to house the JTF2 and provide a Helo deck for rapid deployment. As someone pointed out earlier the LAVs are ideal fo... |

Good luck, lad. I never worked in the recruiting world but I suppose it should be no different than any other unit. We plan everything we do around the all important budget. Remember this advice an old CSM gave me 25yrs ago. It always worked for me. "Keep your mouth in check, your ears always o... |

Damngrumpy, you should be thanking people like this lad, your Grandfather before him and all us in the CF for safeguarding your right to express such crap without fear of reprisal. People like you should get out and travel the world and I don't mean Paris or Mexican resorts. The world is a nasty pla... |

Pet and a zipperhead. I am surprised they didn't put you on the bus for St. Jean right then and there. |

Military pay sucks compared to civie street. Sasquatch, I think most of us joined for other than the pay. Besides, I made $74,000 last year with my sea pay and PDL. I would not call that a pay that sucks. Most people are content with our wages. Where else can you actually get paid to travel the wor... |

I always thought about joining the Navy. Anybody serve on a Canadian destroyer and what are the conditions like on it? Life on a ship can have it's rewarding moments. You will get to see much of the world. I have 12yrs sea time as an Aircraft mech. (AVN). I would say that you would want to do it as... |

While there really is no other a/c that can replace the Herc the J model is proving to be a bit of a lemon. The Brits cut their order in favour of more C-17s. The USMC and USAF have both reported many problems with this model with respect to cold weather ops. Whether this is just a new a/c glitch th... |

I'll properly reply to your questions when I get a little more time. I usually use Jane's data as it is relied upon by our Int guys often enough. I too am in the middle of reno work. Just pulled a hot water tank out of the basement. For those of you who don't know it Pro Patria is the official motto... |

Eye, do try to read what I wrote instead of reading what you thought I wrote. My post is merely commenting on the pace and intensity of modern ops. I don’t mean to belittle the actions of those that went before. Do you have any idea how many battles our people have been engaged in over the last few ... |

Good morning, Spec. I feel we got off on the wrong foot. I didn't actually look at your profile. I could tell by the terminology you were using. It's at least 5 years out of date. Yes, we did have a bad spell thanx to the liberals, about being seen in public in uniform during the 80s. The problem is... |

You see, there in lies the problem. Hollywood is being used to replace the history books. So just because you saw it in a movie you think that is how it really was. Don't mistake what I am saying. Our WWII vets did an amazing job in some very hostile situations. You can read the accounts from any Re... |
