There must be some reason why you are Canadian and not American, no matter where most of your family hails from. Not to mention that Swedish and Icelandic are quite funny languages to speak in a family coming from the US and England. In any case, if you prefer the States to Canada so much, you shou...

It seems curious that someone who shows such hostility to pretty much everywhere in the country east of his own corner of it, and who seems so intent on emigrating even from there, really shouldn't give so much of a damn about its linguistic policy. And in any case, French is not an official langua...

Benn Benn: Knowing some French when living in Quebec IMO is useful simply out of respect.
I won't ever be living anywhere near Quebec, though. If I stay in Canada, it'll only be in British Columbia. |

You're an idiot. If you want to waste your time learning, probably for fun, a bunch of languages whose speakers almost all know English anyway, that's your business. The only useful language I see in that list is German. A quarter of the Canadian population speaks French, that's why it's an officia...

I know English, German, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, and I'm working on Scottish Gaelic. I've had use for each of these languages more than I've had for French, so I won't learn French. Seems rather silly that it's an official language. And my question to you is... where did you "hav...

My resting heart rate is 50 beats per minute (with blood pressure of 86 over 48). Be interesting, with improvement, how much increased activity I could get out keeping such numbers so low.

If you take an interest in daily republican talking points about political issues that not only don't affect you in any way whatsoever, but that you also can't possibly affect yourself, then yes, imo you have no sense of what's important or worth talking about. There are 600000+ US political forums...

I still remember when my friend called me that morning. It was early (pacific time here), and it was weird he was calling. He told me to put on the television, I asked which channel, he said it didn't matter. It was just after the first plane hit. I saw the rest, after. Shortly after, had to get rea...

If the right-wing were actually more free-market than the left, you might have a point there. In fact, it was Paul Martin in Canada who pulled us out of huge deficit spending and Brian Mulroney who introduced the GST (although, to his credit, he also brought us NAFTA). Similarly in teh US, it was B...
