I don't think we have the full story, the way I see this being reported is someone saw chatter on a NRA message board and worked backwards. So with the actual incident being the last thing which was reported, I think there are a few things the reporters were not able to catch.

It was an alright debate, we all know this wont convince any young earth creationists and definitely wont turn any people to follow creation. Both are preaching to the converted, and that's pretty much where these kind of things fall.

Should never been allowed to wear it from the start of the trial. A jury and judge should be allowed to see facial expressions during all testimony and not just hers. Wearing something that covers you up completely wont help her out, she already comes into the courtroom trying to hide something. I ...

I'd like to know how this thing was constructed, I doubt it was a 1/4 inch steel pipe and was probably somewhat small or made of flimsy material. Which might be why the airport security didn't take it seriously. Still an incredibly stupid reaction to something that could easily maim you, but no one...

Every time I go through security they always want to dust my 17in laptop for explosives.

Guess dusting a pipe bomb wouldn't turn up anything.

It might not if he used match heads.
