Either (being an atheist or religious) is a choice. We are all supposed to be able to make our own choices in life. We can all flaunt our choices. Nobody has to (dis)agree, but a little respect would be nice. I get 2 sweet religious ladies on my doorstep every 2 months or so, wanting a discussion a...

...Most people just state that if it is brought up in class by a student, it doesn't have to be ignored forthright and maybe discussed in class, and I support that view since public schools should be centers of education and not an indoctrination facility. We're not saying discussion of religious i...

I am much like you, although I would classify myself more agnostic than atheist. I started to get more involved in this sort of debate when non-scientist people started to take bits and pieces of science and curve the idea of the science to fit their world view. Crazy videos of people showing young...

5 years for what this guy did *is* near impunity, basically 2.5 years per child, this guy deserves to go away for 25+ year and be chemically castrated for this. I also think that these so-called "sentencing circles" are an affront to the Canadian Justice system. From what I've seen of the...

...I think another reason that atheists talk about religion is the growing movement in the US by Evengalical Christians to add creationism into science classes. This on it's own could destory the next generations basic understanding of science and in the long term hinder advancment of us as a socie...

Now that is nasty..Nah..He'll go before this circle and the community will all rally around him saying how poverty and alcohol destroyed his life and blah, blah, blah and get nothing but community service and if, the judge has the balls to overturn or ignore their decision and sentence this guy to ...

Eisensapper Eisensapper:
Five years for the negligent death of two children? That’s a slap on the wrist it’s self.

Canadian courts routinely hand out sentences much less than that for criminal negligence causing death. That's not to say I like it, but it'll be something to remember if the sentencing circle does the same.

But atheism is based on the belief that there is no god and they leave no options open for the contrary. Only agnostics believe that there may be a god but they can't prove it either way. Nobody can prove conclusively either way, including both atheists and believers. The best they can do is "...

Yes, this is real - imagine being able to murder your children with near impunity. . . . The article says he could get five years, so I don't think "near impunity" is automatic. I instinctively don't like the idea of different justice systems, but sentencing circles are here and I think t...

The word “probably” makes this an Agnostics ad, not Atheist. In any case, annoying religious zealot bullshit versus annoying anti-religious zealotbullshit. Both annoying bullshit. Actually, it's proper for an atheist to say "probably", because no one, not even an atheist, can prove defini...

It was a reversal of tradition. The Russians came out hitting, but in the end, Canada won it with skill. I've never understood that one, you know. Why do Canadians seem to believe the Russians traditionally beat us? Go through the history of Canada vs Russia series when their best met our best. I b...

I'm not a newshound by any stretch, but I check most days to see whassup, and I never seem to see her name anymore. In fact, I just checked to make sure she was still the Sec. of State (she is, in case you're wondering, too). Has she been effectively buried by the Bush heavyweights, or is she just w...
