I said they should demand to be compensated, not to be forced to work. They said they'd serve X years for Y money. They owe the army the remainder of that time and the ammount can be calculated and a bill submitted. These gutless wonders can run but they can't hide and the contract they signed can ...

You agreed and signed a contract.

The US army should simply demand these people pay out their contract instead of time served. Hit them in the pocket book.
