A Conservative minority government.

.. but you folks need to dirty the waters because this is a very underhanded grab for power that violates the voters decision. See, this is what I'm talking about. The voters' decision was to give the Conservatives a minority government. If the voters wanted to give the Tories the right to unilater...

I understand that Conservatives are upset and angry about this but they should be angry at Harper for creating this situation. The opposition parties are just doing their jobs. Where were they the last two years? I can't believe people like you support these parties that only finally stand up when ...

I explained my position on this quite exhaustively in the coalition leader thread. There is nothing underhanded, unethical, illegal or undemocratic about a coalition. The opposition has every right to form a new government, without an election, if the sitting government loses the confidence of the h...

Care to point out what sides of the issue I've failed to consider? I am simply trying to correct the misconception that this is somehow not the way our democracy is supposed to function. I understand that Conservatives are upset and angry about this but they should be angry at Harper for creating th...

I have been pretty civil so far, unlike certain posters who use far too many ellipses, don't understand how Parliament works, and think this is some kind of illegal power-grab. I don't think you're stupid, anyways. Yet. Not illegal but blatantly megalomaniac. You're right, how dare those maniacal o...

I post on other forums and the conservatives there are largely angry at Harper for overplaying his hand. They're not attempting to argue that this is some kind of undemocratic coup.

But more Canadians voted for one party than the others, and that would be the Tories. As I said in the other thread, Canadians vote for their MPs, not parties. The elected MPs represent their constituents by choosing the government. So what's your point, exactly? BS " Mr. Harper, who was leade...

The majority of Canadians voted for parties other than the Conservatives. Those parties are now working together to ensure the will of that majority is enforced. I am astounded at the stupidity level in this thread, indeed in this whole forum, anyone who sees this as "the end of democracy"...

I personally doubt most canadians had a coalition in mind when they voted nor even knew the workings of our political system well enough to see if it could be done. Anyway while watching the news this morning (global bc) the general public opinion of those put on tv was that it was wrong and shifty...

If the Liberals do join forces with the Bloc to form government, they will have, unarguably, sold their soul, as well as hit a new low. Whoring... oh wait sorry... I meant "forming a coalition" with the separatist Bloc (supposedly the main adversary of the federalist Liberals) to get powe...

Oh...and the leader of a party and the direction in which he intends to lead his party have no bearing on how a person votes? A little naive to think that it is only the individual MP that determines someones vote. For most it is the party that people vote for, and the platform it and its leader ha...

The majority of Canadians voted for the Liberals, Bloc and NDP. While weaker than the Conservatives individually, if the three parties decide to work together, they will be strong enough to form the government. A government composed of the Liberals, Bloc and NDP, for whom the majority of Canadians v...
