This whole business is unravelling fast. Britain and Italy are goners. The US is positioning itself for a presidential election with massive voter frustration candidates have and will be running the other way. This all sucks and will lead to problems unless containment and isolation can be brought t...

I came across two interesting pieces this morning: The forum heard many Muslim women who wore the hijab struggled to find work, while men changed their names from Mohammed to Mick to secure employment. Raidah Shah Idil spoke of her fear of attending a university interview because she wore a hijab. T...

I'm not laughing...*^%damned liberals. He's referring to decades of Liberal mismanagement that emasculated the Canadian military. Canada went from having the third largest navy in the world to having the second largest in Canada (I think the West Edmonton Mall still has a larger presence). My bad. ...

Soft on crime? I was arguing the crime side. It is not a crime. If it were an actual crime then I am sure our roles would be reversed. Or, even more rare, we might agree. I take it liberal is anyone that doesn't agrees with you.... even if their position is conservative. It seems like most o...

The problem is that this wasn't an "accident". Down here at least it is against the law to leave your children un-attended in cars. Not specifically being aware of any particular "law" I called the RCMP who informed me that there is no law in Alberta to prevent you from leaving ...

Accidents happen and always will. Trying to piece the failings that led to the accident and tie them together as wanton neglect and as some posters have extended - wilful "intent" and by default “manslaughter” is both immature and insensitive. My entire point here is that anyone who belie...

What should the punishment be? Put her in jail, away from her other children and family, her support when she needs it the most? Fine her? She just lost a child. What would the money matter. Wow, hang thm high or what! Save you're punisments for people who do criminal things, not stupid things. Fir...

Perhaps parents would stop doing stupid things if there were more penalties. Is having one's child die not penalty enough? Perhaps parents would stop doing stupid things if they were made more aware of the dangers. Sure it is. Personally, I would be equally racked with guilt and dread if I killed s...

Do jail terms act as a deterrent for behavior? Is leaving children unattended in cars (running or otherwise) behavior that should be deterred? These stories make my stomach churn. Perhaps parents would stop doing stupid things if there were more penalties. (A mom at our Preschool backed over her tod...

I just finished writhing on the floor in laughter reading a piece on US economic policy. It made me think of grainfed's (I think it was his) post on oil last week. Thus, I am encouraged by the fear of higher prices to add a whole new protective layer of aluminum foil to the inside of the Famed Secre...

Ruez...Ahh..Let me guess..You are a parent that wants to be your childs 'friend' rather than parent. My children have a bunch of friends but they need two parents! My wife and I. I don't want to hang out with my kids and their friends. I want to know who they are and I want to know what they are up...
