I don't know about other cities but in Calgary. Home developers and contractors are giving HUGE incentives for first time home buyers which is leading to a lot people buy homes further anf further away from the downtown core where 90% of them work(aka. Urban Sprawl). That means more cars and driving...

Oil prices are not going to suddenly spike upwards, creating instant crisis, without some kind of external force being applied. What will happen is a gradual increase in prices, outpacing inflation, which will drive a gradual shift towards other energy sources which are currently uneconomical. Real...

It isn't really that subjective. The oil we have left is increasingly difficult to access. At the same time, demand is increasing. That combination will drive the prices up. It doesn't matter how many billions of barrels are there if the cost is prohibitive. I guess what I meant by subjective was h...

The irony in the Mike Bullard show is that he's ten times more funnier when he's not in front of camera then when he is. I've got a friend that's a producer on his show and he a hoot to hang around with when a camera isn't rolling. That's probably why he's been clinging onto Canadian network tv for ...

It's actually pretty funny...the required shift in mind-set isn't that extreme at all, or maybe it is extreme but not that far in our past. It's just a matter of not wasting things. Is it me or is this eerily sounding a little Fight Clubish? A lot of those stats on how much oil is left doesn't incl...

What is surprising is how little support the people and the government of Canada have given to Ballard and other innovaters. True, but there's even less support in the States. If you talk dollars and cents. Ford makes several billion a year on vehicle sales worldwide. But only puts in $200 million(...

I would bet good beer on this one. I would like to see a source of this statistic as I think this is 100% inaccurate. m I read that statistic in a third or fourth revised printing of History of Oil Well Drilling by John Edward Brantly But that was a long time ago... What I should have said was the ...

Thanks for the faux apology. There wasn't anything faux about my apology. I tried to be a gentleman about it and still believe in carrying intelligent conversations on an open forum. If you don't want to carry an intelligent conversation fine, then at the very least please don't patronize me. Too m...

It's fairly well written and the historical research done for t...

Ok a couple things. 1) Karra I apologize for calling you a 12 year old ignorant jackass, that was uncalled for and unprofessional. 2) On the whole issue of Ron Mayhew and his farm in Dywer Hill(I assume that's the farm you're talking about) I am now am a little more versed in (I only found one Ottaw...

slip slide into darkest Haiti where they can now put into practice what the citizens of Dwyer Hill have been experiencing for years at the hands of these deadly youths. Terrorism - Canadian style. Karra what is your problem? Oops. Maybe they're there to learn new techniques - now there's a concept....

At least we wont be cheaping out on this if it happens I guess. I mean, sending a Sea King to the Gulf in a commercial ship? That hurts.. Hey with the ridiculous amount of military cut backs right now we'll be lucky if we even have functional Sea Kings at the end of he year. Now I'm not a war monge...

I respect Chomsky too, ckzero....I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I think it's a shame that the mainstream US press alternates between ignoring him and attacking him. Yeah I get what you mean. More people should read Chomskys work, too many dismiss him as some kind of modern day educated beatnik o...
