Bootlegga said but as has been said, it's a function of the fact that servers here make a minimum wage higher than in the USA and with tips added on can make very good earnings. Good point, and it goes to the heart of the problem. The Canadians being criticized in the article were not in Canada, they ...

QBC QBC:
well, if you automatically give them an extra 15% no matter what the food is like or the service, quit calling it a tip and call it a service charge. You guys don't tip, you just pay more for your food with no expectation of good service in return.

Your spot on!

That will never happen. Actually being a server in an upscale restaraunt is a great job. Tourist areas always jack up the prices comparable to surrounding areas. You go out for a meal and the bill is $100.The server is serving several tables at the same time.Lets say 5 tables.15% of 500 is $75.If th...

This is a surprise that you talk about "underage sweat shops" because usually Chinese culture understands the importance of education and children are expected to be at school and not work in factories. Read the article carefully, it is the children who eat and play in the poisoned area a...

And the Chinese run such a squeaky clean government. Hell, greasing the wheel and corruption are an inseparable part of doing business there and governing. has been for thousands of years. Pointing to mud on someone else's shoes does not absolve one of guilt. The point of the first video is to try ...

I lived in Canada for several years. My daughter has dual citizenship. I like to read the daily news on CKA to keep up on day to day events that are happening in Canada. 99% of these events are not covered by the mainstream American media. The forums on CKA are top notch. A broad political spectrum ...

I was called for jury duty when I was living in Boston, but I was not selected to serve on the jury. In Mass. your employer has to pay you up to three days wages if you serve on a jury. Since the first day was paid for, I stuck around to watch the trial even though I was not selected. The defendant w...

My Avatar came in long after in joined up. Trust me there was no message I was trying to send through it, just thought it was funny. I dont mind the poking fun at bush and US policies part bit but really don't intend to poke fun at Americans. So I'll be changing that incase people do think that way...

Wow this thread really brings back some classic cheesy 70's memories! God I miss some of those shows. I used to love the Rockford files. That poor bastard was always getting his ass beat, and never had two dimes to call his own. He lived in a trailer at the beach. He was my working class hero! [B-o] ...

This guy should write a book on how to beat drug tests. I had to piss in a cup every other month when I was in the Air Force. Clearly this guy has been enjoying acid trips for years. He worked for NORAD all those years and never tested positive? Far out. Timothy Leary would be proud. Keep drinking t...
