Elizabeth May will do anything to try and be relevant, but no cares any more. It would be better for everyone if she disappeared off the face of the planet.

Announcing her resignation but not actually submitting a resignation to the party, and not allowing the indigenous party president to release a statement on Truth and Reconciliation day.

Paul is trying to scapegoat May. I found this on reddit and it was on the mark:
$1:
May's offer to step down from her riding to give it to Paul has been in the news for a while.

https://thetyee.ca/News/2021/09/02/Supp ... ty-Moment/

This article from September is just one example. But Paul has been on CBC Power & Politics multiple times since her time as leader, insisting that Toronto-Centre was the right decision for her because of her roots there.

It was well known, not only to those of us in the party. It was out in the open that Paul's decision to run in Toronto-Centre was hers alone and ran counter to the advice she was being given about her odds there.

May had also offered the Green leadership to Jody Wilson-Raybould (something she had no power to give away as it's the membership that decides who becomes leader) in 2019, prior to the election, when she was trying to woo her as an MP. May also tried very hard to convince Paul Manly and Jenica Atwin to take over the leadership of the party in the aftermath of the 2019 election. They also refused.

May had promised her daughter that 2019 would be her last election as leader and she very much wanted for someone else to take up the mantle and renew the party. She's been criticized by other leadership contestants for nudging the membership towards Paul, even though she officially remained neutral (but we all knew that she voted for Paul, it was obvious).

This idea that May got in Paul's way or that she refused to help out is false. It's been construed by ignorant journalists and political pundits on Twitter who desperately want to see Paul as a victim and May as a shadow dictator for some weird reason. Even though verifiable statements from the past year easily disproves that narrative.

Sources? I have not seen ANYTHING to support this claim. I see her bending over backwards to give the leadership to anyone so she can leave politics without scuttling the party she founded.
