It's kind of a running joke. Usually he asks. He walks in my cube while I'm on the phone with a vendor, opens my lunch bucket, says "are you going to eat that?" and takes some fruit, or veggies or cheese and leaves. I tried hiding my lunch, but he'll just search cabinets till he finds it.

And his wife feeds him better than I eat!

Well Caleb, in Ukrainian culture (I don't know how in others) there are 3 things that are "holy to give" if someone is not giving that it's "some kind of a sin". They are: water, food and medicine. There is no tradition to say "thank you" for that. It keeps like kind of abuse when you thanks for that. In some cases you can say thanks for dish to those wh was cooking. Actually, no. I meant that 'polack' is derrogatory because that is how it's used, no matter the speaker. It's not that people can't make jokes, it's that the joke isn't funny. If you choose to use that term, by all means, but know that some may take offense.

And P_F being Ukraninan also means he identifies with the Polish. It's kind of like you insult the whole region.
