Actually, it was 4 Americans she worked on a NATO committee that she called 'Bastards' and FOX beat the 'invade Canada' drums until the whole US of A was in a lather over it.

100% I was watching CBC at the time (Question Period was about to come on) when they first broadcast her comment so I saw it in context. Within hours I was amazed how that clip mutate, and was quoted out of context until it became something it was not.

To me, it was a crux moment, where I could see the media manufacturing our consent to do as they pleased.

She never said any such thing. The quote makes it appear as if the 'Damn Americans' quote is "directed towards George W. Bush" and she is apologizing for them BUT she was referring to her appearance on 'Open Mike' with Mike Bullard in this quote as being directed at Bush not the American people (where she stomped on a GWB doll, several weeks later).

Another example where she has been taken out of context to fit another agenda.

I have only been able to find bits and pieces of the original event on the 'net. Most "News" organizations don't archive their stuff. And that incident goes back to 2003. Pre-YouTube.

Wow - lots of strong feelings about this. I think that reading through the posts here, no-one is defending Gutfeld's stance or his arrogant and ignorant display. I tend to agree with the poster who mentions he's on a 3am Fox show and isn't taken seriously by anyone so relax, he's not indicative of the average American. I think perhaps the strong feelings are coming from a larger issue and that is how Canada is seen by the US. Cramming vilification up each others' noses isn't going to do anything; but perhaps channeling that to the 'news' show's inbox might make you feel better. But, trying to defend this in a CANADIAN forum is going to be somewhat difficult. We have lost a lot of guys in Afghanistan.

Our guys are in a full time loop of 6 months of ops, 4 months off, 5 months of training and another redeployment.

We are doing our bit.

To have some loudmouth yanks, who obviously know nothing about our country, piss on the graves of our dead soldiers will get us somewhat annoyed.
