It's a shame it took them 70 years to finally gain the recognition they so fully deserved, even more so when you realize how few there are of them still with us.

For those in the Windsor region, or wherever who may be interested.....

I've met Peter Cottingham a number of times and have a signed copy of his book Once Upon a Wartime. He started out with the Regina Rifle Regiment but most of his war was with the Special Forces. Quite and experience!

.. and the Devil's Brigade is where the American Airborne special forces got their green berets from. Their story is not well known in Canada but I'll bet that it is completely unknown in the U.S.. I find it interesting, though, that Canadians only take notice when he receives a Congressional Gold Medal. These men should be ... and should have been ... regularly honoured over the years in this country, with or without American recognition.
