DrCaleb DrCaleb:
Tricks Tricks:
So 95% of the documentary is about health affects that have little to no credible scientific data to support them. This is like vaccines causing autism nonsense.

Yawn.

Any study that claims wind turbine blades create noise is full of shit. The turbine blades would have to move through the air faster than the wind powering it to create noise. That's unpossible.

Are you staying that wind turbines made zero noise during operation?

$1:
they claim it creates "infrasonic" noise, so noise below a perceptible level, which causes such things like node bleeds, sleeplessness, head aches, and cancer.

Also claimed is that the voltage leaks into the ground and it burns their feet.

Descendants of those who told us the human body could not survive speeds above 30 mph?
burns their feet... what a load of absolute shit.

Lots of talk about the flaws of the Lib's Green plan, so far none about what should or will replace it!

No. The generators etc. can make a lot of noise. The blades can, but usually in the flexing of the blade. But wind noise that might be generated by the blades is intentionally reduced because it makes the blades inefficient.

$1:
The most promising methods to reduce noise radiation from a wind turbine are to include noise effect during the blade design phase. Design of noise-optimized airfoils is one of these methods.

Franck in Risoe [22, 25], Gemesa [9] and Lutz in University of Stuttgart [49] have designed and assessed noise-optimized airfoil through aerodynamic and acoustic wind-tunnel tests on 2-D airfoils. Lutz points out that the principle of the airfoil design was to reduce the dominant low-frequency (less than 1kHz) TBL-TE noise peak in the spectrum (which
is due to the thick suction-side boundary-layer) by reducing the loading of the suction side, at the expense of an increased pressure-side loading (which causes a slightly higher noise level at less important medium frequencies of 1-3kHz) [50]. The wind-tunnel test showed 2-3dB reduction in average overall sound pressure level (OASPL) and an
improved aerodynamic performance for the newly designed airfoils [51].

The concept of attaching sawtooth serrations or brushes on the blade trailing edge has been proved to be another effective noise reduction method.

I wonder how those farms that ground flour with a windmill survived for all these years.

On the farm, we had a little windmill that pumped water from the well.

Windmills have been used for 1500 years. Suddenly in the last 15 people have complained about health problems with them. Nocebo effect anyone?

Like the people who think power lines wayyyy over their head affect them, but buried 6 feet underground aren't a problem.

Stray voltage is real.

The problem isn’t specific to wind turbines, just something that can occur in rural areas around transmission infrastructure of any kind. But I understand it can be mitigated.

Those high voltage lines make a lot of noise though when you're close, especially directly underneath. I know it's probably in my mind, but I get a weird feeling when I hike near them. 8O

Anyone who says the noise won't increase wildly when everyone starts dropping a windmill in their backyard is just kidding themselves. Imagine being the poor doofus next door to the guy who doesn't get the thing maintenance ever when the inevitable squeaking and squealing begins from worn out bearings or lube breakdown. And the bird death will increase exponentially too because of the damn things.

Pointing out the obvious ain't fun but it needs to be done before the herd stampedes themselves off of a cliff again.

The difference is, that's running through metal objects into the cows. Not someone getting their feet "burned" by standing on the ground.

If a high tension line falls down and lands beside you you'd have the impulse to run away. And get fried. The difference in voltage between your feet spread apart by running or taking long steps could be what gets you. You baby step away.

If it lands on your fucking head, you WILL get a burning sensation in your feet. That is your feet turning to ash.

Buah hah hah. A few truths to help you sleep well.....

BTW when I was back east I saw several windmills, including that huge one you see leaving Cape Breton. Then I saw field after field of them in the Pass in Alberta.

All I've seen here in BC are the truck trains carrying the windmills to Alberta!
