CF bulbs aren't toxic. Any more than LEDs will revolutionize lighting. (currently)

They still have two fatal flaws: the cost, and the optical properties.

They are excellent for power efficiency, but so far are only good at giving omnidirectional light. Good for a flashlight, lousy for a room.

LED's are GREAT for flashlights. The filaments in the old school lights were terribly fragile but with an LED you can take your four-cell flashlight and beat the snot out of someone and still use it for a light!

You don't have to blind us first. Give us bacon, and we'll get in your car.

My 5 led headlight was a lifesaver up north in the 24 hour darkness, regular flashlights couldnt handle the cold and the batteries were useless after a few minutes.
I used to take 3 sets with me and sell them to the boys when i came back to the world.

:D
