Resource workers in Western Canada are more likely than the country's auto and forestry workers to benefit from the federal Conservative government's new proposal to temporarily extend employment insurance benefits, labour economists say.
Just what we need. Another opportunity for the pols to show their regional parochialism. Already Duceppe has complained that the Tory EI changes will benefit Ontario more than Quebec. This will pit east against west with the Oppos claiming the Tories designed it benefit Tory ridings.
And of course the NDP have already pledged to support it.
