...one car penetrated nearly 20 feet (six meters) into the next.

At 26kph... hitting a shock-absorbing barrier.

What is that train made of, papier-mâché?

I repeat... WTF! [huh]

With a train, anything is fast moving. So much force behind those fuckers.

That's my thinking too. And I doubt that train cars are designed to withstand impact the way a car is, since this sort of thing is very rare. And, in Argentina they may not be using the latest train technology.

E=mc2. You only need a little bit of speed to impart a lot of energy when you have sufficient mass, and with a train you have sufficient mass (and then some!). Einstein bitches!

Sorry, no nuclear reactions involved. Momentum = mass times velocity. Newton bitch.

Argentine trains don't have brakes, I guess.

Still, last year's crash in China "only" killed about 40 when a "high speed" train ran into another one on a bridge, sending 6 cars (containing about 100 people each) off the bridge.

Sorry, I could not find how fast the train was going.

True. It just seems odd that it happened as the train approached a station.

Actually, Force = Mass X Accelleration. Newton, Bitches!
