Senator Joseph McCarthy died on May 2, 1957. Modern day Russia was still the Soviet Union. Unless there is another McCarthy that I do not know about...
The lawyer, Lin Wood - who also defended Democrat politician, Gary Condit - is claiming the following in the introduction to the Plaintiff Complaint he authored:
In a span of three (3) days in January of this year commencing on January 19, the Post engaged in a modern-day form of McCarthyism by competing with CNN and NBC, among others, to claim leadership of a mainstream and social media mob of bullies which attacked, vilified, and threatened Nicholas Sandmann (�Nicholas�), an innocent secondary school child.
So the Democrat defending lawyer is claiming the term McCarthyism is an invention of the Washington Post and he mentions it only to point out the hypocrisy of the Washington Post when it unjustly targets someone for demonization based on political beliefs - which is what the term, McCarthyism, means by the definition of it they invented.
