I don?t even know where to start on this one.
Needless to say this ruling is the result of collusion by definition. It will destroy nearly all ISP competition and push Canada even further down the list of countries with the best and most affordable internet.
In France, where the government passed a set of laws declaring the internet a necessity among other things, you can get a 100mb connection to the internet for 19.99$ a month in over 90% of the country. With this new ruling I will be paying close to 100$ a month, with a bandwidth cap, my speed is only 3mb/s, and to top it off they cap, shape and otherwise mess with the traffic I use. So some days I am unable to VPN into work and WORK over the internet I am paying 100$ a month for.
Come on Canada. Step in, declare this an essential service like water, roads and hydro and break up this oligopy.
