As George Jefferson, he refused to set foot in the Bunker household because of Archie Bunker?s bigoted views. However Jefferson, a dry cleaning entrepreneur, was also frequently rude and opinionated.

The character was rude and opinionated, yet Archie Bunker was bigoted. The shows creators often referred to George as being a black version of Archie.

Sad news. I grew up watching All in the Family and The Jeffersons and I remember sometimes watching Amen too. He was a funny guy.

    RIP Sherman.

I doubt that there'll ever be shows like the jeffersons or All in the Family again. His exchanges with their maid, were some of the funniest parts of the show.

Shows like the Jefferson's, All in the Family, Chico and the Man, Good Times and Sandford & Son were great.
Like others have said before they could never be made again in todays politically correct society!
    RIP Sherman.

I think Family Guy gets a pass because it is a cartoon and not "live" actors. Or maybe the networks are too busy pumping out reality tv shows to make a quick buck from the 10 second attention span viewers rather than develop a well written, hilarious sitcom. 8O

I didn't like the show that much - though I did find the exchanges behind him and his maid pretty funny. RIP Mr. Helmsley.

Don't forget shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Married with Children and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

There are lots of shows that push the boundaries, they just usually don't show up on the major networks, they are on the cable networks instead.

The Simpsons stopped being funny years ago. It honestly can't hold a candle to Family Guy.
