An Alberta judge has sentenced a man to five years in prison for slashing his infant son on the throat and abdomen with a butcher knife, saying the father's violent actions were spawned by "anger, rage and jealousy" toward his wife.

Yet another "WTF moment" brought to you by our justice system.

I often feel that the judges who hand out these 'pat to the hand' sentences need to be exposed to the agony that the victims of the perps have suffered. 3 yrs and 11 months is all the time he's going to spend in jail.

He should have been keel hauled.

Who is more screwed up the perp or the judge?

I can't imagine what that child will be feeling every morning looking in a mirror seeing that scar that his father gave him as an infant.

"Justice" was replaced a long time ago by the "Legal" system.

"It's such a serious case and we were seeking more time than what the judge sentenced him to, however it is a significant amount of time," she said.

    ROTFL

First off it should have been attempted murder, not fucking aggravated assault, so the prosecutors once again caved to the, we might lose the case syndrome.

And saying that a person who committed this horrific a crime has the support of the Sudanese community isn't much of an indictment as to the values and morals of that group of immigrants is it?

He also has the support of Calgary's Sudanese community, the judge noted. Several members were in attendance at the sentencing Friday.

Trying to kill your kids cool in Sudan? I'd be ashamed to be in the same room with this POS, never mind openly supporting him.

Why the hell would that be a factor in his sentencing anyway?
