"Minerault was arrested and taken into custody for unlawful symbol burning and booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center."

There's a charge for that now?

    Or just in Arizona?

Why do you ask ? Got a couple of Korans kicking around ?

    I think it's just Arizona.

    13-1708. Unlawful symbol burning; classification

    A. It is unlawful for a person to burn or cause to be burned any symbol not addressed by section 13-1707 on the property of another person without that persons permission or on a highway or any other public place with the intent to intimidate any person or group of persons. The intent to intimidate may not be inferred solely from the act of burning the symbol, but shall be proven by independent evidence.
    B. A person who violates this section is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor.

Edit: Actually many states have similar laws after searching:

Apparently it applies to patriotic symbols as well.

Did you forget all about your "surprise" at learning that destroying a Koran at a British soccer match is a no-no? Did you also know it's a no-no to destroy a Bible at a British soccer match as well?

Who cares? Let them burn whatever they want. If God is really God then it's not going to hurt him and he doesn't need the law protecting him.

Besides, if there is a god, she has enough of a sense of humour to create freak show looney tunes like Minerault.
