The deal could cost the province $500 million a year in the long term, which is more expensive than had the government simply borrowed the money, the provincial budget watchdog found

Can this embarrassment of a government please put the well-being of the province ahead of their own political gain for once?!

I fully expect that those who condemned the Conservatives for selling the ETR to applaud the fiscal genius of Wynne and the Liberals. :(

Where's Beaver? I would fully expect him to jump in and defend the actions of his beloved Kathleen.

Why is it that this government gets away with so much?

    On the 407 sale...

From our good friend, local Liberal hack, BeaverFever:

The above are not casual missteps, they are so unheard of and radical, that for them to be key parts of the largest privatization in Canadian history, it's obvious that they are the deliberate actions of far-right privatization ideologue.

Beaver was quite vocal on the sale of the 407 and notably absent on the Hydro One file.

The only deal that I can remember that was a stupid as this one was when the Harris government sold off the 407 for a tiny fraction of its worth. They also sold off a major cash flow for peanuts.

Both governments trading the family cow for a handful of magic beans ...

Nope I'm pretty sure I've said here that I'm not a fan of this sale. Not one bit. Selling off crown assets is a conservative tactic and Liberals should have none of it.

It'll be like when the Germans bought the nuclear power plant from Mr. Burns. They'll find out that the place is such a messy piece of shit that they'll probably sell it back to Ontario at a loss just to get rid of the damn thing. Only this time the sale doesn't come with a Land Of Chocolate. Just bills that are so big they can never be paid.

This is far worse than that.

The best part is the Liberals have been using the 407 as a talking point for 15 years and now, they're going to give the NDP and PC's ammo for the next 20 with this deal.
