The decision by the Czech president to withdraw a state honour for a Czech-born Canadian Holocaust survivor has set off a political firestorm in the country and sparked outrage that the action might be part of an effort to appease China.

Now you know why character and integrity is important. Deny him an award because he met with the Dalai Lama? That's an insult. Throw away the award then if you can't hold it to any esteem.

Whether it's China or any other nation, you don't sell out your principles for personal gain or perceived benefit. Canadians had better start opening their eyes, we will see more and more of these cases where Canadians are impacted because we didn't have strong leaders.

WHen I state "strong", I dont mean guys who would rather persecute and bully Canadians like Vic Toews and his ilk.
