Well, the thing is, none of the guys you mentioned are leaders by any stretch. O'Neill was supposed to be the go-to guy on offence this season with Mogilny gone, but he's on pace for one of the worst point totals of his career. I'm not saying he isn't one of the better players on the team, but he su...

Nah, Canada'll win this time around. Their core of veterans is far superior to the US team. The other teams are just an afterthought, like mustard in a hot dog.

Any team looking to get stronger for the playoffs isn't going to give up one of their best two defensemen.

Depends entirely on what they're offered in return. Calgary would love to have a decent centre alongside Iginla, and they're pretty loaded on the blue line. Andrew Ference, anyone?

Why are skilled players like O'Neill and Czerkawski healthy scratches?

Hmm...Let me think...Could it possibly be because they SUCK right now? O'Neill has 30 points in 51 games, Czerkawski has 5 in 18. Can you recall the hype when they showed up? How's it looking now?

@ Ripcat -

How do you rationalize getting a mediocre defenseman in exchange for what could be considered a first-line centre?

They were good against the Devils in the first period, but after that....pfff.

A new coach won't do any good. If Quinn is good enough for the Olympic team, he's good enough for the Leafs. Trading Allison for a decent defenseman...That would have some benefits, especially with Klee, Coliacovo and Berg out at the moment.
