And "Grüß Gott" is also old fashioned, so many young people reply like it were an order. Many people don`t want an religios greeting.

Very common here is "Wenn ich ihn sehe" or "So weit wollte ich gar nicht hinauf" :mrgreen:

Can't imagine an Austrian speaking ordinary German, funny thing ;-) Wir lernen es so in der schule; [angel] und es doch mehr hochdeutsch als zB in Stuttgart, Berlin oder im Pott; In Switzerland...

Don't they say: "Grüß' Gott." or old fashioned "Gott zum Gruße!" I was in Austria, twice, when we were driving to Croatia and back to Germany...
