Aside from the sharp decline of the Bloc, I don't see what the big deal here is. It's not like the Conservatives are down overall - they're fine. The Liberals are getting some support back from the Greens, which was what many political experts expected to happen. Toronto is liberal... very liberal. ... |

In all cases where conditional sentences are handed out for sexual offences, electronic monitering devices were used.(As indicated from pg. 28 of below document) These decices are attached to the offenders ankle if the device is removed, or even if the offender leaves the perimeter the authorities ... |

If Judges did not so frequently abuse their discretion by being far too easy on convicted criminals, I would be against mandatory minimum sentencing as well. However, whenever this issue comes up, you inevitably run into numerous examples of Judges being too soft on crime. Period. Well, if someone a... |

I tend to be pro-abortion, but in a very, very limited way. To me, it seems obvious abortion should be illegal as soon as there's a hint of brain in the fetus, because at that point you *have* a human being, no longer just a blob of cells. The thing is, the brain starts developping around the 8th w... |

On today's Question Period, there was one segment where Jane Taber was interviewing three different Liberal MPs (including Scott Brison) over the recent poll numbers. She made some interesting comments... "If I was a Liberal, I'd be shaking in my boots right now!" (from this, I think that ... |

In looking at some of the recent poll numbers, and given how the two parties are probably not that far apart on actual political policy, I think it may be to the mutual benefit of the Greens and the NDP if the two parties joined. Their combined support in one recent poll would put them almost neck-a... |

Ignatieff would have been a better pick for the Liberals, and it's really starting to show. Dion's English is good enough for most bi-lingual professions that don't require a great deal of public speaking... but it really is pretty weak for a Prime Minister. That, combined with the slick attack ads,... |

Jesus strongly encouraged His followers to give generously (and as directly as possible) to those who approach us in need. Marxist-Leninist philosophy emphasizes the centrality of the state, and how wealth redistribution is a state concern. In modern times, wealth redistribution does not come from a... |

Patrik - It IS strange for a person with Ignatieff's point of view to be in a party that's so overwhelmingly anti-Iraq war, and often quite happy to make anti-American comments (however valid they may be). I agree with the sentiment that the Liberals will seem very strange indeed if they try to push... |

Well since the Conservative popularity seems to be slipping outside of Alberta, I'm curious to know why people in Canada think the Liberals under Dion or anyone are a better party. I know Harper isn't a perfect leader, and the Conservatives are not a perfect party. Are they really worse than the Li... |

I think that the cultural differences between America, Canada, and Mexico, would make it a very tough sell in America and Canada (I could see the Mexicans going for it since it would get around the illegal immigration issue with the US). I'd be very leery of it, and would fight against it. By and la... |

source Looks like Dion's not getting the green traction he wanted. The numbers for the NDP should be higher, but I'm glad that people aren't forgetting the Liberals' record on this issue - which is abyssmal. Green-house gas emissions increased under the Liberals. If this poll is in any way reflecti... |

 I can't stop laughing.....get a grip on reality. I think that I have such a grip on reality. Ultimately, a Stephen Harper government isn't that drastically different from a Paul Martin government. How much we pay in taxes is similiar in both cases, the basic government agencies and health car... |

I view the NDP as the principled left, whereas the Liberals have few issues that they are TRULY passionate about - by and large, they'll simply go where Ontario and Quebec is polled as wanting them to go (in fairness, the Conservatives are becoming a bit like that themselves). In reality, the Conser... |
