Forum: Editorial Discussions   Topic: Opposition on softwood 'Anti-American' says Minister

That Emerson should accuse critics of this deal as being "anti-American" merely points to his sleazy knuckles-dragging-on-the-ground-character. It is a bad deal from start to finish and must be recognized as such. It sets a dangerous precedent for future deals as it is simply protectionist...

This is astounding news! If we have anything ressembling a democracy this should have profound implications for the Harper government. So too should it for Bush.

I have been very critical of Mr. Emerson but it seems not critical enough.

MacKay's word cannot be trusted on Cuba or any other issue. There are already plans afoot in the US to take advantage of Castro's failing health and initiate regime change there. Mackay has learned to mimic George's jargon well when he refers to bringing democracy to foreign countries. As with Afgha...

In "Informed Comment" Juan Cole suggests Israel has been planning this war for some time and that it was probably initiated from the office of Donald Rumsfeld. This is really a proxy war between the US and Iran with Israel doing the dirty work. It is very telling that neither Bush nor Blai...

Not only should the Liberals be prepared to bring down the gov't on this they should have Emerson's head on a platter. He was supposed to get a good deal and he got a sham deal. If he had any integrity he would resign. His riding association will very shortly have a new candidate and be ready for a ...

This is actually a very interesting and timely subject. Some years ago I read a book by an American sociologist who discussed the issue of parents dealing with gifted children in an authoritarian way. A gifted child challenges the status quo within the family and of course the easiest way to deal wi...

Hi Fwanskta. Yours is a very good question and I will try and answer it. I will do so in point form for the sake of brevity. Though this may sound cynical both Iraq and Afghanistan were attacked by the Americans not because they were threats but because they were vulnerable. The US was hoping for qu...
