Chill out, Skippy. There have been a ton of shootings here as of late. Hit Google. Go find your own links. Most every Alberta paper will have a few for ya.
What was reported in the media is nothing at all like a good sample of crime.
Does anyone have any official crime reports on shootings?
According to StatsCan, Halifax is the worst Canadian city for gun related violent crime. However I'm fairly sure they're talking about per capita and not hard numbers.
In 2013 there were 53 shootings plus 2 gun related fatalities. As of April 2014 there were 8 shootings and 1 gun related fatality as well as 4 attempted murders.
Moncton, NB was rated second worst.
In 2012 the rate for gun related violence in Nova Scotia was 137 incidents per 10,000 people, according to the Nova Scotia Justice Dept. And yes that's 137 incidents per
10,000 people.
According to numbers from Toronto's hospitals, accidental shootings are the majority of firearm related injuries they treat every year.
