I'm off to the Alberta Summer Games next Thursday. You guessed it, Lacrosse. The Juniors I was coaching are done for this season. I was asked several months ago to take the bantam team, 13-14 year olds, to the Summer games in Peace River. They never really had a coach this season, a few different coaches from other age groups filled in to help them out, so I buckled under and said, yeah, sure.....
Should be an awesome time, we're actually playing in Nampa and will be there from the 22nd-25th for our games. If anyone is in the Peace River area from July 19-25, check out all of the Alberta Summer Games, they should be awesome!!!!
As of this very moment, QBC is absolutely exhausted and very much looking forward to coming home tomorrow.

Chasing around young ones who know how to use sticks would be very exhausting!

Combined with sleeping in the athletes village (a classroom in a local school), with the team, on a foamy, in a sleeping bag, in the stifling heat.... yep - the ol' boy's pooped.

Here are a few more pictures I took at the ASG's. I have a few videos too, but they're not up on youtube yet. I've been a bit under the weather since returning from Peace River so I haven't had a chance to write the my impressions of the games. All I will say for now, if anyone ever gets a chance to be involved in such an event, do it, you won't be disappointed. Seeing the young people, not just on the team I was coaching, but all the kids. Their excitement, drive and the enjoyment they were getting from the games sure did my heart good. (I will explain about our team a the strides made by them in these games, it's a great story, as soon as I can.)
