Reminds me of an ad campaign they had at a hospital I worked at once.. They were trying to recruit young nurses. So they sent emails out asking for staff for a photo session to depict how nice the hospital was. Only problem was they wanted only nurses under 30, good looking and oh ya.. they ask for one or two minorities to be in the photo,, which would be taken at the pool side at a local resort... all hell broke loose... for one thing nurses under 30 at that hospital were few and far between .. and of course we didn't have a pool.. I think if you want to attract people, sell them on what you have and Alberta has alot going for it.. really.

Wow. I don't know who's dumbest - the people who picked an image from England (probably via Google image search) for an ad about Alberta after spending $25 million on the new campaign (you'd think they could have set up a photo crew at a real Alberta beach), the people who are defending this as "no big deal," or the people in this thread who think Lily was serious about there being no beaches of any sort in Alberta....

And Shep, that's Lake Winnipeg, I'd know it any day! ;)

This is one of our local beaches that could have been used.

Devonshire Beach at Slave Lake.

Winnipeg Beach, Grand Beach have better sand beaches than many ocean resorts. I've got pics that I show students and they find it hard to fathom that we have lakes so large. Then I show them videos of the Great Lakes.

Looking at the stats, Lake Winnipeg is 71% the size of Taiwan. 8O

I haven't actually been to Lake Winnipeg, or Manitoba for that matter (sorry, peeked at the file name for the picture, that's how I knew ;) ).

All I know is my favorite beach in the world is Hapuna beach on the Big Island of Hawaii.

They did send one out late last fall, right after this campaign was announced. But they didn't want to stand around on the ice and be drunk for 6 months. So they said screw it.....

They try and pass it off as a little bit of a tropical beach in the middle of the Prairies.

Just had to a bit of research.

Besides the 2 large lakes in the territories and the Great Lakes, Lake Winnipeg is the biggest.
I know we have a lot of lakes in Québec but I tried to find the largest.

Lake Winnipeg, 9717 sq.km.
Largest in Québec, 2164 sq.km.

So that's huge.

We do have the most lakes after the territories but they're not very big (comparably).
I'm going to guess that most of our lakes are in the northern parts.
