How about a Christmas theme? I took this one of a poinsettia. I've tried in the past with this plant. It really is a tough one to capture. The red is hard to work with.

I was out in the mud of Mckenzie Creek when I came across an impromptu XMas Tree.

No, it's all available light and thanks! I try to use either available or the rooms lighting. I'm not a big fan of flash.

A Kravlenisse. (Crawling troll) They come out around Christmas looking for treats. Always used to find them in the oddest places growing up. Not the best pic I've ever taken, but it's not Christmas yet...

EB - mind if I post some stuff I've shot of late? I'm still playing with my Canon 50D I bought last year. And I agree with you on natural light vs. flash. Even when using a flash bracket and diffuser I'm still not so fond of the harsh effect from flash.
