Depends on which version of Asatru you believe. The whole pagan thing is kind of a "progressive" thing anyways, and there are those who see Asatru as mostly a sort of pastoral "one with the natural world" kind of thing, which would probably fit in at starbucks in downtown Toronto just fine.

I didn't look closely at your Avatar. It mentions Christianity but has an image of Thor - how do you square that? Sounds like you're into the Nordic religion thing a bit. I did a search some years ago, because I wanted to discover more about pre-Christian European religion. I've wondered if Europeans got lost when they imported a totally foreign belief system. They were much more into stuff descended from the Indo-Aryans. But when I searched, most of the stuff that came up was white power sort of things, left a bad taste in my mouth. Probably not possible to go back in any meaningful way, no more that Druidism or Wicca.

Maybe go back to the original inhabitants of Europe - Venus of Willendorf stuff. That's something that could easily be pastoral (or pre-pastoral acutally) and matriarchal to keep those wimpy elites (like John Baird is himself) happy.

Never gonna happen, and while the Liberal Party is currently self destructing they're numbers are actually climbing since they got rid of you know who. So. if Queen Carole can't beat a party without a leader in the poll's what's she gonna do when they actually get someone they can pass off as competent?

Also people seem to forget about the BC Conservatives, who in 3 years will likely be able to run a full campaign in most, if not all ridings. So, given peoples bad memories of our previous beloved leaders, Vanderzalm, Harcourt, Clark and Campbell it isn't out of the realm of possibility that they go in another direction which would likely be the Conservatives.

But most of this is meaningless supposition since we won't see an election till 2013 at the earliest and by then the NDP will have figured out some way to make themselves inconsequential yet again.

I just thought it was funny, I'm not actually into any religion, although I do like a lot of the moral ideas that go with Asatru. The white power thing does exist in some groups but it doesn't seem to be any more prevelant in Asatru than it is in christianity. There are alot of people who read racism into some of the "folkish" ideas present in norse paganism, but most Asatruar aren't racist.

Also, I'd appreciate if someone could think of a reason that this relates to BC politics...

Actually a pretty straight line. 2Cdo made some comment about lefties as if muzzling dissent was confined to them. I pointed out Harper (wait till the knives finally come out for him - make James look like a love in). Thanos felt I needed to be slapped down for that, and I invoked you as having made a similar point to mine and referred to your Avatar. And there we are.

But since when has staying on topic ever been a feature of CKA? I think the segues are usually the most interesting part of the discussion.
