Today (Saturday) is the vote for the new leader of the BC liberal party and BC's new premier.

I joined the BC Liberal party in January so I could vote tomorrow. Is anyone else here registered and voting?

I got my voting PIN in the mail just fine, so I'm all good to vote online tomorrow, which is kinda neat.

I have setup a special page on Politwitter to follow the Twitter & Facebook tomorrow during the vote. Also according to the candidates usage and popularity on Twitter & Facebook, Christy Clark is the clear winner. So Politwitter predicts she will win tomorrow night. But its not that simple, maybe on a first past the post, but since its a first and second pick vote it could mix things up.

Here is the live stream:

Looks like George and Christie are the frontrunners. Which horse did you pick? My money is on Clarke but I hope Abbot wins.

Congratulations Premier Clark. [kissass] [B-o]

And a special congratulations to the BC Liberal Party rank and file who apparently didn't think Christies family involvement in the BC Rail Scandal mattered enough to preclude her from becomming the Premier. ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

May 14, 2013 can't come soon enough.

I think we're going to be voting well before then. You going to vote NDP? 'cause the conservatives don't stand a chance, all they can do is take votes from the Libs.

I'd like to see Farnsworth as Premier.

I think Clark will call a snap election. I give it 6 months if the polls go right.

Sorry Andy never voted NDP in my life and only voted Liberal once, Provincially, so in the last two elections I actually voted for the BC Refederation Party as a protest vote.

But now that BC Conservatives are running I'll vote for them and since my vote wouldn't have gone to the Liberals anyway it doesn't matter about me taking votes away from those losers.

But I don't think you'll see Clark run an early election, especially now that the NDP is gonna start zeroing in on her family and the BC Rail Scandal.

She'll need time for her spin doctors to prepare an excuse, especially now that:

$1:
Virk gave inside information to Christy Clark's brother in B.C. Rail scandal: wiretaps.

I agree andy... there will be an election well before 2013. On the TV coverage tonight they were talking about maybe this Fall or Spring 2012. I'd like to see it happen soon just to get it done with.

I think the Liberal party has lost alot of support with the HST and just replacing Campbell with Clark isn't going to change that.

Whenever it is held our next provincial election will certainly be an interesting one. As you suggest andy the voters the Liberals lose will likely go to the conservative party and that could be enough to boost the NDP back in.

How does someone who's not an elected MLA become the premier of BC?

Same thing happened in Ontario when Ernie Eves became premier.

Good question. Does she now have to run and win in a byelection like unelected Federal Candidates who win their parties leadership?

If she wants to sit in the legislature, yes. That's what Eves did. They picked a sacrificial lamb, who resigned his seat, then had a by-election.
