What about Apple TV and Shaw-on-Demand? They have new movies up there pretty fast, usually HD. Not the cheapest--$40 for a season of Doctor Who if I recall.

Somebody just told me about House of Cards today. Sounds right up my alley.

My 14 yo step-daughter set us up with american netflix. I think she just used a youtube turotial. Took almost no time and no problems so far. Only thing I've heard is things can get screwed up if you're running american on one device and canadian on another...

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
You can't play Fallout when the "servers down"? I actually own those games (for X-Box) but pirated them for my computer. I don't understand what you mean.

Funny, I have Battlefield 3 that I mostly play from my PC on the console servers using an emulator. Lots more fun than playing PC with the run-n-gun crowd. 8)

I've gotta be honest I vastly prefer single player games. Same reason that I enjoy books really. It's far easier to immerse yourself and enjoy the world without a few dozen guys running around with microphones acting like children.

Now to address the idea of suing people for online downloading is bullshit. If you want me to buy your product make it an easy purchase without hassles.

Ideas like the Steam PC service get my money for a reason. I click one button and it downloads the game for me and patches it without my having to lift a finger. No sitting through a million menus or having to remember 20 different logins for every gaming site out there.

Compared with something like EA's Origin service.....

And you wonder why people pirate.

I'm not much of an online gamer; being a clueless noob amungst a bunch of asshole masters is a major disincentive. Plus I really suck ass at most shooting games....

What I recommend is that you do not even try to play the same game that everyone else plays.

Over the weekend I was on the PC side of BF3 experimenting with the sapper kit and I came up with a fresh strategy for attacking the enemy and saw my kill-death ratio go from my usual 2:1 to as high as 22:1 in one round.

I'll be using that same strategy the next time I get a chance to play.

And that's my advice to you is to find a new way of playing the game that works for you. See, trying to play the same game as some amped up ADHD freak who sucks down six Red Bulls for breakfast isn't going to work.

What you do is to find a way to exploit the other guy's skills and to use them against him.

After a while you can frustrate the snot out of these punks so bad that they leave the game.

Ah, yes, good times.

$1:
One of its clients is now before Federal Court in Toronto, requesting customer information for over 1,000 IP addresses — a user's unique Internet signature — collected by Canipre.

That's almost as funny as gun grabbers talking about guns.

Shame the chances of the courts knowing anything at all about the internet is closing on the limit of zero. With luck maybe Teksavvy will educate them about that.

If you are worried about people spying on your internet activity I would suggest using a VPN service.

DVDs? Doesn't everyone just use Netflix, or Apple TV or Shaw on Demand or whatever, at this point?

Doesn't Netflix hog up bandwidth?

Get Teksavvy. Unlimited bandwidth for the same cost as the lower Bell/Cogeco/Rogers plan.

Ain't buying it for a second even if all of those problems went away. Theives still would be stealing art. Because their cheap bastards, free is the best price. Nice try though. Piracy also is now part of the reason when I buy almost any single player game I have to log onto a server (DRM) in order to play. A . Single. Player. Game. Servers down, can't play Fallout.

It goes both ways. Pirates find ways around those DRM blocks, so companies like EA do shitastic things like make Simcity always be online, which makes the game almost unplayable at times. Of course, the game itself is also a broken mess, but I was furious at their server issues.

It's one thing if they want to add DRM, but if they're going to make games a "service" like Simcity, where I must have a stable Internet connection, they better fucking provide a good service with decent servers. Plus, the gaming industry has some...quality issues at times, and digital downloads can't be refunded like any boxed product, but 95% of all PC games are now just digital these days.

Thank God for Steam and her sales.

Leave it to EA (voted worst company in America for two consecutive years) to royally screw up an established and respected brand like SimCity.

One of the worst game launches I have ever seen.
