What part of the country are you in? I am an engineer/designer with a large security grille/storefront closure manufacturer and locksmiths are notoriously "un-knowledgeable" about our products and locking systems. You could become a local specialist with our (and our various competitor's) lock systems. Your customers would be local merchants, mall retailers and some store chains. It's a niche that is often not well filled in smaller centres. Often the local auto glass company becomes the "expert" with these products and they are often far from being expert. take a stroll through an indoor mall before store opening time and you'll see the products that I'm referring to.
