Alexander Keiths India Pale Ale:
http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/alexander- ... -ale/1518/

Not real high ratings.... one guy said:

"Tis a rather pale beer with not too much to stick on top on it. Smells a bit like alcohol. Unlike a ’real’ IPA, this is not hoppy at all. Not to say that it is bad because of this or anything, but rather to say that the beer is significantly less hoppy than what I expected. It has a rather bready and yeasty flavour though. With a little spice thrown in the mix. Finishes off skunky. Run of the mill mediocre beer. "

Must be an acquired taste.

Now, are you all putting this beer above real American Beer????? :)

It's all personal opinion anyway, even your ratings. The only beer I can "enjoy" is a Corona, and only because of the lime which helps disguise the beer taste.

Dollars to doughnuts I wouldn't like any of your top rated beers. ;)

My point, Lily, is that Canadians like to demean American Beer. Just not deserved, even foolish. You might be surprised.... Black Butte Porter is easy tasting, fresh... and a full meal deal... satisfying.

I go to the ratings for a real serious analysis...

Americans are into beer like you wouldn't believe.

Yes... it's all personal taste... but let's get real... there is quality beer here in the States.

I have started drinking more wine lately. I think once you get on that you almost don't want to go back to beer. :P

When I was younger I loved Kokanee, now it tastes like crap to me. Rather have Rickards Red, Moosehead, or Stella Artois.

I have been living in Chicago for the past 10 years. Yes there are quality beers here in the U.S. but those come from the Micro Brews. I have yet to drink a quality beer from the like of Miller and Budweiser. Not to mention that when you can buy a 30 pack of cans of PBR or Old Style for 8 bucks you are not getting a quality beer.

Personally I drink Guinness on tap, Fat Tire, Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale, Bell's Two Hearted Ale and really any decent micro brew.

I think the comparison on Canadian beer being better then American beer comes from the main stream beers. Like comparing Molson Export to Miller or Bud. Not necessarily comparing the main stream beer to micro brews, because honestly some of the micro brews here in the US are better then the main stream Canadian beers I've had.

Just my humble opinion.

Yeah, i'm not sure if they changed something, or that glacial ice they use is now gone with Global Warming and now they are using Vancouver tap water.

Not sure that Black Butte Porter is anymore a micro-brew. It is distributed in several states, in bottles and on tap. The Milwaukee beers were blue collar beers... Now things have changed and we got some good stuff going thanks to all the Microbrews that led the way.
