Sure the Libs promised to eliminate it but didn't when they actually learned what dire financial straights the PCs put us in. Lucky for all Canadians.

They then cut budgets drastically including social services, something you cons hate, and brought us back into the black and then some.

They faithfully paid down the debt as promised and took nothing but slings and arrows from people to stupid to realize that the best possible policy for Canada is to put every extra dollar towards debt reduction.

The Libs promised the same tax cuts that the CPC did so Harper isn't breaking new ground. He did what they did when he put the surplus to debt reduction and we are all better for it.

Most of the con supporters here favour a massive military spending increase which means that if Harper delivers on on his promises we will be back into deficit gov't again. The "softening economy" won't help.

First off I have lived in the UK and Australia and paid far higher taxes then here, a fact verified by both Eyebrock and mcb, who despise the Libs. The truth is that Canada suffers in comparison to the US tax wise but not others.
