There won't be a black president in the US for a good while yet. No matter how qualified Obama or Rice is (and I think Obama would make an excellent candidate, though I would probably go for Edwards in a primary). I think there are still large sections of the US where people wouldn't vote for a black presidential candidate no matter if they were a Democrat or a Republican(cough-the south-cough).
Agreed, but do you think they even stand a chance or its a lost cause?
This is why I like the Electorial College. The South supports the Republicans, and it wouldn't matter whoever the Democrats field as most southerners would still vote Rebpublican. I believe him being black would actually have less of an effect for this reason.
Personally, I hope Obama doesn't get elected. He is very liberal for my taste...more to the left of Hillary. However, he is very charming...not a bad thing but I really did have to do my homework to find his stance on issues. The media reports on how popular he is, making him more popular

.
As him being Muslim, it might be a benifit because the Arab countries might actually like the US for a change. Heck, it would be interesting to see his balancing act with Israel.
I would like McCain to be elected though, but I could definalty cast my ballot for Rice too. All the other Republicans in contention really shouldn't be President.
Dang it! This brings back memories of when Powell was in politics. Always wanted him to be President, though his wife wouldn't let him.
