Well Americans have turkeys? Turkeys are native to North America so if you eat one for Christmas I guess that kind of is an American element to it.

I'll always say Merry Christmas especially to those who don't believe in Christ , that will never change ...Not as many people take holidays during CHRISTMAS as one would think , and if you don't believe in Christ you shouldn't be taking time off , because that is when christians have their little thing, " not you"... so get back to work and shutup , and find your own time of year to express your goodwill toward family friends and strangers to honor your savior called , HOLIDAYS , but unfortunately Christians might not be on Holidays the same time as you , so you'd likely be wrong and offensive to those who are not .

To Christians Christmas represents birth , life , and spread of goodwill to all and although for some it is a time to gather and give at least one of your relatives a bloody nose or in some cases and all out family rumble over past differences or who got the better gift ... anyway Goodwill is what Christ means to them , and what they congregate for as communities all year long and year in year out .

This is time of year created by christians to spread that extra goodwill to all whether you believe in Christ or not and to honor our soldiers who fought for goodwill holidays (Christians) so lest we forget .

We all know Jesus was born regardless what religion or not because history says so , so I guess there is nothing wrong with celebrating or acknowledging ones birthday . I would like to wish you all a MEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRYYYYYYY CCCCCCHHHHHRIIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAASSSSSS ho ho ho

Merry Christmas to you Merry Christmas to you Merry Christmas dear ......
Merry Christmas tooooo youuuuuu ... and many moooooore

Happy Holidays is said so not to leave out other faiths in the goodwill; it's got nothing to do with Americanization, and everything to do with Political Correctness.

Motorcycleboy Motorcycleboy:
I'd just like to take this opportunity to wish all my fellow Canadians a "HAPPY HOLIDAY".

Apparently, we no longer celebrate Christmas in Canada. From this day on, based on the "Holiday Tree" that they have at Toronto City Hall, we now celebrate "The Holidays".

Well, I was watching Wolf Blitzer on CNN and Larry King, and they were talking about the "Holidays" as well.

So I give up!

I guess we are all Americans now!

Long live the "Holidays", and "Death To Christmas."

It may not be truly "Canadian", but at least it's not American!

Happy Holidays (and Season's Greetings) to you too!

Christmas Lights are from the United States. Also putting lights around your house and building is from there. Unless you still put candles on your tree.

as you have probably gathered by now , you can't stamp a standards approval symbol or theater rating symbol on my forehead regarding political correctness and neither should anyone else have one regarding what is a time of Goodwill courtesy of acknowledging a fallen soldier of goodwill .

Although I do understand your point making other references to it other than Christmas is pointless , I just think people are bored of calling it what it is and can't come up with a real cool new jingle of a name for it .

Nah, I would prefer my tree not burn down.

It's not "pointless." It's a holiday season for people of many faiths and cultures, and some people choose not to single out Christmas.

Hmmm. What is the legal holiday in Canada?

Chanukah?

Eid?

Winter Solstice?

Kwaanzaa?

What's the national sport of Canada? Hockey?

You're half-right (as well as half-witted...which adds up to a whole something  ).

I recall that the official sports are hockey and lacrosse.

Hockey only recently, after people recognized that not everybody in Canada could relate to lacrosse.

Hmmmmm.....

I don't think hockey was ever labelled official.

Lacrosse definitely, and maybe curling. Man, I get asked by so many people over here when they find out I'm Canadian "oh hey, do you curl?!"

Too funny
