I'm going to admit that I haven't read the whole thread, but I thought I'd throw this in, and feel free to discard it if appropriate.

As I understand from the last few posts, you are newly married to a woman with children. You, therefore, are now part of a broader family; a family who will be significantly impacted if you are forced to leave. You've already said that it can't just be about money or love, so how about for the good of the kids. It is proven fact that kids benefit from a stable home environment with positive adult role models. So, while kicking you out of country may not lead your wife to some state of extreme duress (exluding emotional and potential financial angst), it may be to the substantial detriment of the kids.

Thanks for your input othello. My wife and I have already discussed alot of our options and I think that will be the basis for her arguement when she writes her letter to the government. As well I think we are going to have my oldest stepson write one too. We will be seeing an attorney on Friday to see if we have any other options......

Gangrenous... I have been there . Immagration was going to deport me directly from the interview. I was lucky. I could prove that it would be a great hardship on my wife.

Perhaps a different approach is needed. Ask your employer to write a letter explaining the how his business would suffer with your loss, the expense and time he took in training you for the job.

Write all the senators and congresspersons for your state and explain your plight.You will need to know the name of the person, date and time that you were interviewed by. This is extremely important. The more information you can give to your elected representitives, the more pressure they can levy against Immigration.

Remember, Immigration is at least one full year behind...things take time. This means it will also take time to serve the paperwork to deport you. This is where lawyers can help you most. They are expensive, but they do add a great deal of paperwork to your file. No civil servant wants to scan large amounts of legal documents.

If you receive notice, they are going to deport you and you have exhausted all other options... enlist in the Navy. You may get assigned active duty but they won't deport you. The Navy is the safest of the armed forces in the current conflict.

me, I moved down from Toronto to PA in 2000; applied for a renewal of my green card/upgrade to pernament resident status in Nov. 2002 and JUST got my paper yesterday saying that they'll be passing me off to the Pittsburgh office for an interview really soon...

so, yes - the paperwork is backed up something awful at present for the INS - as if that hadn't been said already...

Anyone had the "chance" to be arrested by police officers while in vacation ?
Well, I had... Message intended for anyone going to the beaches ( hum... Lets say Hampton Beach for example... ) this summer. Policemans in that region has something against tourists( confirmed by locals and some store owners there ). Been arrested, last year for being the "f****ing French Canadian"( policeman words ) in the area.I went to local police station and then to Rockingham county jail. I have been lucky : somebody knew where I was and I have been cautionned ( 500US$ ). The only reason why I put this here:
1- I dont wish that kind of experience to anybody and it's for prevention intentions;
2- Remember some of 'em hates us because of the war...;

What do I know is true? That your an average American idiot? Sure after 9/11 the borders have to be watched more carefully, but doesn't marrying an American give you certain rights to live there? And im sorry, but the good o'le border patrol isn't to judge if a wedding is illegal or not.
The man even filled out the necessary paperwork, but the folks down south (if they were illiterate i guess they have an excuse) would still not allow him to cross.

And i guess i did throw the word "man" around loosly, because that would mean that you have a shred of maturity... which you dont.

But, before you go throw your Pro-America Anti-World opinions around, please consider these things:
-America isn't the super race
-Paper work+marriage to a legal citizen=right to live with your children
-Just because you say "im right" doesn't mean you are
-if everyone "stayed out of american, dumbfuck" i'd hate to see your economy drop from lack of tourists

I don't know who you are, I've never seen you here before, but I can tell you, you are not going to get a warm reception. Perhaps you would suggest we close the borders? Maybe the Americans should stop coming to Canada. I don't know about anyone else here, but where I am living, people love to goto Canada for vacation. I myself would love to goto Canada for vacation but am kind of binded.

Maybe you could explain why you are so bitter about Canadians "bitching" about problems they are having in the US, instead of just swearing at us.

I grew up around rednecks, Full American. I sometimes describe myself as a leftist redneck because of my experiences with those people. I've sat around bar-room and kitchen tables in many provinces and states talking to people just like you, except they were old enough to be in a bar, or at least to drive.

After a while I tired of their willful ignorance and ridiculously narrow views. Being just like them is nothing to aspire to or be proud of. Go get yourself an education, or spend some time talking to people and actually thinking about things and get educated the hard way.
