I will be going into an industry (aerospace) where i could make a tonne of money in the states and have a wonderful career working with General Dynamics, Boeing, Nasa, etc. But i won't because i want to live in Canada. Why? Because i do NOT want to live in the states and i do not care about making money or high taxes

thekafilkafish thekafilkafish: im gonna start calling you a_former_man because you are obvioulsy a little nancy when it comes down to it. ... the canadians that go the US have not had the mental revolution that the rest of us had. a revolution that makes us humble to the world and everything in it and want to bring equality and peace to the rest of the world.
IOW... you believe most Canadians are spineless, lazy hippies who don't stand up for themselves or take what's theirs.

Why do you let your potential go to waste?
If you are as capable as you claim to be, why wouldn't you take advantage of the best opportunities you can get? You are selling yourself short.

Because there are things that are more important in this world than money, dumbass. I am not going to sell my country short, the country that has given me so much, i will give something back once i get the oppertunity.

dgthe3 dgthe3: Because there are things that are more important in this world than money But most of them cost money. If you had the potential to be fabulously wealthy, why wouldn't you take that opportunity instead of working at a dead-end, middle class job? $1: I am not going to sell my country short, the country that has given me so much, i will give something back once i get the oppertunity.
You could give a lot more back if you had more money. You are not helping anybody by letting your potential go to waste.

Few people are "altruistic." The vast majority of human beings do what's best for them. That is our nature.
If you are a man who doesn't have the balls to take what's yours, that is a character flaw.

Oh yeah? How many people around the world donated money to tsunami relief. How about the famine in Ethiopia back in the 80's?
One day canuck, I hope you are poor and homeless so you can sit on a street begging for change and watch people pass you by because so "few people are altruistic".

xerxes xerxes: Oh yeah? How many people around the world donated money to tsunami relief. How about the famine in Ethiopia back in the 80's? A lot. They do it to feel good about themselves. Or so that others view them favorably. Know how much they would donate if they didn't have a self-interested motive? $0. $1: One day canuck, I hope you are poor and homeless so you can sit on a street begging for change and watch people pass you by because so "few people are altruistic".
If I were on the street begging for change instead of working my ass off, I deserve NOTHING.
The homeless are not victims; they put themselves in that situation, and they need to work hard to get out of it.

The last one I saw looked like he hadn't seen water in months. So I'm pretty sure he's going to nail that job interview and I'm sure his resume is up to date.

Wow, must be that legendary Canadian social welfare system, keeping the starving dehydrated homeless guys from slipping through the cracks.
Here's a tip: you don't need a job interview or a resume to get paid to pick up trash or cut the grass. Most of the time you don't even need to know English.

To cut my lawn, pick up trash, or coat my driveway? Absolutely. He will probably work a lot cheaper than somebody with decent clothes and a nice haircut.
