Just for clarification, my apology was for the way I treated NonRev....not for the content of my opinion

Don't apologize Mike. Not until the rest of them apologize for insulting you first. And I'd like to know the first US-created mess that Rev_Blair thinks Canada has cleaned up? Maybe it was Viet Nam and we cleaned it up by accepting their criminals and draft dodgers. Maybe it was by having them buy hydro from us instead of building more power plants which caused acid rain. No don't apologize. Stand your ground. Your opinion matters just as much as theirs does.

You'll have to learn to read Jehosephats. The "we" refers to the world, not just Canada. We have helped clean up Vietnam, by the way...medical and technical help after the chemical warfare the US waged there. Birth defects and cancer rates are still way higher than they should be, but they are slowly declining.

In the nineties we all went in to clean up a mess that the US left in the Middle East. In 2003 we asked the US to please not make a bigger mess there because we hadn't finished cleaning up the first one. They didn't listen.

There are examples all over the globe, of course. Pick a continent and there's a UN mission there trying to help out after US involvement, either overt or covert.

I'm glad you apologised, IronMike. You were completely out of character there. I hope when you read these posts, I hope that you realise that the criticism is of your government, especially your president, not of you or the American people.

We have a different perspective of your country, one that has become increasingly frightening since 1980 and downright scary since 2000. The next time you feel a little picked on, try looking at the situation from up here or over there.

Just knew I should have stayed out of this one, dammit! IRONMIKE, don't you ever leave this site, voices of reason are hard-to-come-by on here. Jehosaphats, you said it all man! And blair, you could have written that last generic post in 1974 at the height of "watergate" & it would still ring hollow. How come you never rant about tricky dickey? He used to be the favorite example of American-haters like yourself.

ABSOLUT_SS ABSOLUT_SS:
BTW, you don't seem to notice when YOU'RE countrymen don't do this site a lot of service! KMA...

My, my Absolut.... neither do people whose only avenue of discussion is to hurl epithets, obscenities and insults - like "KMA" and "fuck off'..... pitiful. Its generally the last resort of those who dont have the capacity to make any intelligent contribution.

I'll let others decide if you fit the bill.... I already made up my mind.

However, I refuse to engage any further in your attempt to turn this into a personal mud-slinging match. I'm sure you'll hear from RH, if you persist as well. Take it elsewhere.

Oh, and its "your", not "you're"...... *shakes head*.

Sad little man.....

RH - your comments regarding the "lend-lease" programme are fair enough; I didnt refer to that in any way, nor mean to dismiss it. However, as history will show (and I have done lots of reading and fact-checking over the years, thanks) it was all Roosevelt could swing past the American voting public, and he had to play it pretty quietly at that. My point, that obviously was taken the wrong way by some (and for which I too apologize), was that America by and large wanted no part of helping directly until they were dragged into it by Japan.

Therefore, I am justifiably sick and goddamn tired of Canada having to hang its head for not going to Iraq. Perhaps this wasnt the best place to bring that up, perhaps it wasnt the crux of the thread at the time; but I think its high time somebody did - SOMEWHERE.

BTW, if we want to get into historical fact-checking, perhaps we should look into the connections (and the profits) that large American corporations made, prior to 1941, supporting German manufacturing and technology, particularly electronics!
We could start with IBM...... have a look into THAT one, will ya? Just do a google search with "IBM and Nazi Germany".
But fair warning - you might not like what you find.

Stream of consciousness? I thought you didn't do drugs, Absolut.

While you are checking out IBM and Nazi Germany you might want to look into what Dubya's grandpappy was doing to. Some families are just bad...

I love history even more than porn, Rev. I even have a couple of "SS" bolts tattooed on my arm, circa 1983. You'll never know why, but its not what you think! My mother was a big Kennedy lover, and I checked, and checked. Christ, the Kennedys made the Hoffa family look like "leave it to beaver"! The democrat's dream family was a nightmare, & I suspect you'll find that here too, if you dig deep enough. "Sir" John A. was a pschopathic violent drunk, MacKenzie King was a fruit/crossdresser, and Laurier's personal finances made a skid-row drunk look successfull. This guy couldn't float a loan for a pack of chewing gum until he became Prime Minister! Bad families, LMAO, betcha there is a few posters that have 'em too..L...O...L

Letting my hair down here (which at my age is ONLY a figure of speech), I have still been pondering what brought on such an explosion of ditrius, about my original post. Going back and looking at it; it struck me that I just might know. Just wondering if I am right?

Question: Was THIS the part that got anyone inflamed?:

" There for us???????????? When?????????? How???????????? We never needed them for anything. Is this what they teach in US schools? No wonder their democracy is going down the toilet.[/quote]"

If so, you might want to go back to page two, and look at it again. You see, I didnt write that.
I was using the "quote" function relating to another members post, and screwed it up. (Look up a few posts)

I'd be interested in knowing if this is behind any of the reactions?

You have SS tats? There is no excuse for that, Absolut. You have to be nearly my age...get 'em removed or turned into something else. I have no ink yet, but the day Hunter S. dies, I'm getting Uncle Duke emblazoned on my shoulder. Hunter hates his cartoon doppleganger, but he lacks the necessary perspective.

The Kennedys were crooked. They were, I think Bobby more than John, trying to make things better though. Sir John A. was a boozer. He was also a Conservative. I could go on, but it's redundant.

Hello again, Rev. I gotta start being a little less honest about my personal life, or at least not post it on here. I can never explain to you guys why I have the "SS" insignia on my arm, nor will I ever try to justify what I know you are thinking. I was born in, lets just say the year Kennedy was shot Rev, for the record. I HAVE had tats (one) removed the hard way, NOT laser treatment. This was decided mutually, by the people that represent the tattoo that was removed! I am no longer associated with that organization. The "SS" bolts were earned, by me, in another life, another time. I have toyed with the idea over the years of removing or changing it, but have decided against it! Those bolts, at the time, represented something. They still do! It has NOTHING to do with Jews, Blacks, immigrants, or any other reason you felt justified in telling me on here to remove them. Wish I could tell ya, but only God will know. I love people. I've met assholes from EVERY racial background, means nothing to me where there from, or who their mama was, or what color you are, and I teach my kids that because I believe it. But those bolts will stay 'till coffin day! Hell, they'll kick you out of the army if you have "SS" bolts on you're arm. But I'm not in the army, never was. The guys in the "knitting" club I used to belong to traditionally get 'em (only a few) on the NECK! Just like the actual " WAFFEN SS" insignia, it was a collar insignia, not on the arm. I was lucky, I can hide it during the job interview. But I know why its there, only me. And a few others that are probably dead by now!

I respect traditions, dude, but there are limits. Nazis mean a lot of things to a lot of people...only the extremely twisted think that any of those things are positive. I can accept you growing out of that but get the tats transformed. You'll still know what they mean to you, but you won't have to carry the baggage attached when others see them..

The original Nazi swastika was an ancient Arabic symbol stolen by the Nazis, as if they gave a shit about copyright. My tats have nothing to do with Nazi's. Yes, I know, these symbols can evoke great emotions in some people, who feel they know. But what is not so obvious, is that MY choice stands for something very different. Yes, the "WAFFEN SS" used the symbol, and I know full well what the WAFFEN SS were capable of, and did. I accept this, good or bad. I'm a little out of my element here, as I have never had to explain why I have that insignia on my arm, Rev, except to myself when I decided to keep it ON! I hate to be vague, I feel a little shitty not telling you the whole story, but I AM the same person that got that tattoo 20 years ago, and I'll be the same person twenty years from tonight. I've had good jobs, shitty jobs, & good jobs again. My credit was ruined by coke, speed, & booze, ruined again by bad habits, and back AGAIN. But through a bad marriage, a minor stint in jail, loneliness, happiness, & boredom, I'm still the same guy. To change it would be to sell-out myself. I won't do that. If somebody says they are insulted by my tat, well, I didn't put it on to insult anybody, but fuck, got a problem, lets straighten it out, easy way or hard way, you're choice. Point is Rev, I stand for a few things. Too many don't! And the only limit is the graveyard.

And i must say that in your later posts the use of the statement"sad little man" is just as vicious as any other statement or profanity I have seen on this site.

In reference to an earlier post by my Viking friend Absolut. The pen is mightier than the sword and often times can cut to the quick faster. Words destroy the human spirit just as fast as a weapon destroys the flesh. I am not good with words but I do know that there are people who will hide behind the word with the intention of hurting someone while trying to seem "cultured" or above the masses. The thing is, most people can smell this approach for a kilometer/.6 mile. At least when you say f*** O** the other person doesn't have to play mind games to know how you feel.
