Why do Canadians care about what Americans think of us?

In my opinion it is because Canadian have been colonise you could call it a side effect of being a colonize nation. FFS the Canadian Constitution was in GB until 1982 and our head of state is still the Queen of england!

I find it hard to believe that Canadians really care what Americans think of us .I think its the other way around . Personally there are alot of americans I like maybe even majority of them but I also know a few who are blithering idiots and numb skulls and I don't care whether they like me or not .

Our feelings towards America are complex but they can be summed up in the following five axiomatic propositions of Canadian Nationalism vis a vis the Americans:

1) Boy, we hate Americans
2) We really do.
3) Really
4) i'm not kidding. We really do.
5) So how come they never pay us any attention?

It is a classic love/hate obsession, and it defines us in ways we can never transcend. We measure ourselves against Americans. We crave their attention and their approval, we revel in their ignorance of us and we take masochistic glee in slights, perceived or real.

Ya know, I kinda think that anyone's opinion about Canada that isn't a Canadian is rather irelevent. I don't say that as a slight against Americans or anyone else, but as a matter of fact. It's our country and really only our opinion counts. If we like Canada the way it is, we want to change something about it, or not change something, we can and if someone in Texas or London or Sri Lanka doust like it, oh well.
